Long - Putt Winners. A successful event.

Crazy days was a hit in downtown La Grande this year. Amongst the farmer's market, street vendors, bike rodeo, 3 on 3 basketball tourney, a kid's motorized pig-train-thingy, and much much more CRAZY good times, sat our corner at Depot and Adams. The intersection was filled with a flat bed trailer stage on which "SUM PEOPLE" played the heck out of some "SUBLIME", Mt. Emily Ale House chain-linked some space and started pouring beer on the streets, and on the backside of the beer garden set HOLE 1.

Trent Bray at DiscInfinity supplied us with a basket, red cones, and a box full of minis, discs, and starter Innovia bags. Thanks Trent. Kids tee was about 12 ft out, women's about 45 ft, and men's tee sat 65 ft from the pin - spanning Depot Street, alley to alley. We had a nice little turn-out and some very determined participants.

Overall the contest had 3 disc winners. Phil Wasley sank one on his 3rd of 6 throws, Dan (most recent winner of the last Eastern Student Entertainment Tournament at EOU) sank his first practice toss but then went 10 for 11. The 12th throw got him a new putt/approach disc. Start Aviar I think. The 3rd winner rolled up with his long-board and dog and tossed me five - I tossed him six and I believe he hit it on his 4th. By that time the beer garden had taken its toll on me and I do not remember his name... I have it though... somewhere - and I am sure we will be seeing on the campus course.

Thanks for the support everyone!

Michael Bettis: ACED hole 4 - EOU Campus

A quick jaunt to the Eastern Oregon University Frisbee golf course (in between work and home) I caught up with Bettis and Ashley after my first nine. We came upon 4 (EOU recently started some project which resulted in a large fenced area, covered in pavement, with large metal storage sheds and a bunch of additionally ugly obstacles.) My throw had a unique bounce off of the storage shed and back over the fence for a decent birdie look... I thought that was cool... then Bettis got up and put me to shame... we all heard the harmonic PLING as it left its hand - and we all watched as it rode the perfect line and crash-smacked into the pin. It was sweet. Lots of witnesses too - which makes it cooler. wish I had a pic... but use your imagination.
Good work Michael... you have made it to the ACE CLUB!

North Bonneville Disc Golf Association: DISC TOURNAMENT

2009 Tournament: July 12th, 2009

Hole 1

The 2nd Annual North Bonneville Disc Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2009. We’ll have great t-shirts for all competitors, free soft drinks and water on the course and some of the coolest trophies in the disc golfing world.

The tournament is a low-key, fun and friendly event for disc golfers of all abilities. There are a few people who will be looking to lower the course record but most of the golfers will be there to enjoy the great golf course

Hole 10

We’ve moved a few of the holes around since last year to make it more interesting; the trees, blackberry brambles and the ever present Columbia Gorge wind are still here to make the course a challenge to any disc golfer.

And this year, in addition to the delicious post-tournament barbeque provided by our sponsor A&J Market, we’ll have a Walking Man beer garden! It doesn’t get much better than that.

For more information about the tournament see our Events page.

Long - Putt Competition this Saturday

Stop by the beer garden at Mt. Emily Ale House on Saturday July 12th and you will probably see a set of chains resting near a handful of art vendors, a cool gallery, and a stage with live music. LGDGA will be hosting a long putt competition during La Grande's Crazy days celebration.

Stop by the Satellite Gallery at 116 Depot Street to take a shot at winning some discs and supporting future frisbee golf events in the area.

Phillip's Park - Wedding Tournament

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending a good friends wedding outside of Haines and Baker City in Oregon. This private park, with camping for well over 100 people, ponds, creeks, beautiful meadow, and tree scape was only $150 a day so we opted to set up a tournament for the Sunday following the rock star wedding.

A quick 9 hole course was created. A very technical course (6 discs were lost to the pond on hole 1). There were about 30 players ranging in all experiences that were participating in the event. I had taken a few great pics via cell phone but cannot get them uploaded. Where have you played recently?
